(03) B CORP PILLARS

Our B Corp Basis

Sustainability is why we roast at origin. Only by combining growth with environmental and social responsibility can Kenyan coffee deliver true development.

(01/03)

People

The Soul of Coffee

Coffee is a matter of the soul, and people give it a body. Every farmer, roaster, barista and customer is irreplaceable, because it is in closeness that we discover the future.

(02/03)

Communities

Together we do better

Coffee culture begins with valuing the people who depend on it. By roasting at origin, we keep skills and value in Kenya, so development follows the needs and traditions of Kenyan farmers.

  • B Corp network

    The B Corp Coffee Coalition

We are a founding member of the coalition, sharing resources and knowledge with coffee businesses worldwide to make the whole sector fairer.

  • Farmer Support

Through targeted training, sourcing transparency and growth paths, we support farmers and supply-chain workers across Kenya.

  • Kenyan Sourcing

We buy from Kenyan cooperatives, smallholders and estates in regions such as Mt. Elgon, Kipkelion and Rongo.

Cultivatea Future inEach Coffee Bean

Kenya, since 2018

Under Ritesh Doshi, Spring Valley buys some single-cooperative coffees under forward contracts with guaranteed prices. Rather than only purchasing the coffee, we give cooperatives the certainty to invest in their farms.

Planet

Take action today for a better tomorrow.

We are committed to protecting coffee-growing ecosystems and cutting waste across our operations, from returnable glass bottles to recycled paper packaging.

  • Recycled Paper

We are moving our packaging from plastic foil to recycled paper, and we accept lower margins to do it, because the planet comes first. The change continues.

  • Glass Bottles

We replaced plastic with returnable glass bottles, and we keep looking for ways to use less across our operations, one change at a time.

  • Roast at Origin

Roasting in Nairobi keeps skilled jobs and more of coffee’s value in Kenya, instead of abroad.

We stand for Biodiversity

Protecting the ecosystem means caring for the land that sustains us. When coffee grows in harmony with nature, everyone benefits.

Healthy Soils

Taking care of the soil ensures the future of coffee.

(01)We roast Kikaboni, certified organic coffee grown without synthetic chemicals to regenerate soil.
(02)We champion composting and mulching, which rebuild soil and hold moisture.
(03)We base our advocacy on peer-reviewed agricultural science that protects fertile soil.

Conservation of Diversity

Cultivating balance with every harvest.

(01)We source from many Kenyan regions, from Mt. Elgon to Kipkelion and Rongo.
(02)We buy from farms that grow coffee beside indigenous trees, and from growers who keep figs and bees.
(03)We speak up for coffee-growing ecosystems, drawing on objective data and peer-reviewed science.
